Style meditation journal #1: All white

These days, the mind-body issue troubles me again: My mind is full of wandering thoughts and my body cannot settle down. I feel like moving a lot, I can't concentrate; My ideas are flying everywhere, full of things I want to do, but all out of my reach. So I go back to basic: I need to clean up my mind. It's too dusty and messy, like a stack of books with a thick layer of dust.

I began to practice meditation last night: Sitting down in my bed, crossed-legs, palms up, eyes closed. Then my mind started to wander, to begin with a Radiohead song "Let Down", a song that I probably heard it 10 years ago. Later, I felt a little bit of chilly and I warped up my head and neck with a soft, cotton-like white silk blended stole. It's comfortable and calming. I closed my eyes and tried to concentrate on my meditation again. A question popped up in my head: What would I wear if I were a monk practicing Zen? First I thought of the colour, it must be very clean and it must be white.

To maintain a spotless mind status is a long way to go, while for most of us, to keep a white shirt spotless is just hard enough.

When Nicola turns photographer!

Nicola Formichetti, creative director of Mugler recently posted his photo-shooting debut! His first-time models are Prince Homme (Nicola's assistant) and Japanese actress Rinko Kikuchi. As fun as his styling, the portraits look like students' works: experimental and techniques-not-required.

Brad Goreski: The style geek's career advice

So, you want a job in the fashion industry and you're new? Stylist and TV host Brad Goreski has some advice for you:

"Get as much experience as you can and always aim for the top. Do internships—and not just interning but making the most of your internship. I interned at Vogue and then W Magazine and I started off doing everyday intern tasks, but later was asked to sit in on photo shoots and fittings. You have to learn the ins and outs of the business before you do anything else. Set your sights high and aim for the top."

Inspired: The Crying Machines

Fashion illustrator and artist Cédric Rivrain has the obsession in eyes and anatomy.  Rivrain has drawn for Lanvin, Sonia Rykiel and John Galliano. His book Selected Drawings - a collection of 1:1 reproduction of works was out lately. The artist began to draw a collection of "crying machines" after a hard breakup and revisiting late parents' home. Rivrain says,"The drawings saved me," "They were the only thing that could stop me from crying."

Watching eclipse

Lunar eclipse in progress last night: The Moon, IFC Tower II and…UFO.

Lazy late afternoon playlist: The Drums, Atlas Sound, Beach Fossils, Deerhunter

"I Need A Doctor" by The Drums. Love the guitar ending that seems…endless.

Atlas Sound is the solo project from Bradford Cox, the frontman of Deerhunter, the very essence of tenderness.

"Calyer", a track from "What A Pleasure" EP by Brookyln based surf pop band Beach Fossils.

"Helicopter" by Deerhunter, from the album "Halcyon Digest".

Inspired: Flame on!

Red represents super hot, cautious-warning, lust and high energy. Red is the lucky fung-shui colour for good health and good wealth. Put on some red when you feel down, sh-t or out-of-luck, it could really bright you up and do you no harm.

In bloom: Ana Locking Spring 2012

Ana Locking Spring 2012

Be optimistic, look forward! It's freezing cold outside but we can't wait to see what's happening in the coming spring. "Under Beauty" is the theme of Spanish design house Ana Locking for SS12 collection. Interpreting the theme - seeking beauty in between the bright side and the dark, there is a lot of floral pattens varied in bright colours yellow, pink and blue, playing contrast with black shirts and trousers.

Favourite key items: floral pattened leather espadrilles

The 70th post: The year of androgynous mind

Mr. Andrej Pejic is the stylemaker of the year, named by gay fashion magazine OUT. 2011 is the year of androgynous look in fashion world and Prejic comes at the perfect moment: He models for both menswear and womenswear; with long blonde hair and rosy lips, he's a glamours cover girl, and when he stripes down, he's a boney pretty boy. Pejic is an inspiring role model of gender-blending and cross-dressing. Whether it's in fashion world or real world, we all need fun, imagination and COURAGE.
